Purple Haze

Six months have passed since Dillon and Lang crashed into each other on a crowded street in New York City, changing the course of their lives. Now they’re living together as a couple, happy, in love, but not quite ready to say the words out loud.PH600

Dillon is about to embark on a new adventure—opening a private art school housed in the brownstone left to him by his father. Lang… Lang is becoming ever more aware of the futility of his mission: being caretaker to his clan’s future when his clan might not survive the war with an opposing faction.

When a flashbulb outside a nightclub on New Year’s Eve temporarily blinds Dillon, the course of their lives is set to change again. Dillon’s perception of how the world works is going to be forever altered, and Lang will have to decide between his mission and the man who has come to mean more to him than he ever thought possible.

It will be up to both of them to chart a new direction, one that holds the balance between being human and alien. A course that might require sacrifices neither of them is willing to make.

Unlikely Friends

Irwin is not only the local Librarian; he’s also a book snob and an all-around grouch. There’s nothing he values more than his privacy. As a loner, he’s happy to be surrounded by books instead of subjected to the incessant blatherings of dysfunctional people.Front Cover

The one thing Irwin despises more than people is change. He’s content in his predictable, routine existence … until a young girl barrels her way into his dreary life and turns it upside down.

Harper is witty, smart, free-spirited—but most of all, stubborn. Baffled by her need to gain his friendship, Irwin does his best to brush her off, but Harper refuses to budge. In fact, it only makes her latch onto him even more. Friendship, after all, can be found in the most unusual places.

Postponing the Writers Conference

Due to the huge snowstorm coming this weekend, we have had to reschedule the Writers Conference.  Believe us, we didn’t want to do it, but after the governor declared an emergency and placed restrictions on travel, we decided it was for the best. We would feel terrible if someone had an accident trying to drive home in the snow.

The next date where we could get the room at the library and all of the participants to attend?  April 13th.  At least there is not a great chance for snow by then.

We’re sorry once again.

If you can’t make it, please go to the Event page and take your name off so someone else can make it. If you paid for a session, contact the person whose session it is because they can possibly just do a Skype meeting or something with you so you don’t lose their input!

The Case of the Disappearing Director

Cincinnati, September 1963: Augusta McKee, former opera singer and current professor of voice on two college campuses, finds herself immersed in mystery from the top of her well-coiffed head to the tip of her beloved stilettos. 41YIboKt5rLAugusta’s beau, handsome Homicide Detective Malcolm Mitchell, is dealing with a tough case: the murder of a “John Doe”—a victim shot gangland-style and dumped from a car near Parkside Playhouse in lovely Eden Park, not far from a pagoda reputedly haunted by the ghost of a woman murdered decades earlier. And to add to the mystery, a possible eyewitness has vanished into thin air. While Malcolm is busy chasing down leads, Augusta’s attention is focused on the student production she is directing, dramatic scenes from opera which feature on-stage ghosts—just in time for Halloween. Offstage, eerie happenings on the Conservatory campus and a menacing ex-student become increasingly troubling distractions, until Augusta begins to wonder: could Malcolm’s case and her mysterious spirits somehow be connected? Her search for the answer soon leads our favorite sleuth to the alarming realization that ghosts are the least of her worries.
